Season 2 of Power Book IV Force has not been gentle on its viewers, why does there seem to be a death in every single episode? Episode 9 didn't hold back on creating more sorrow and drama for us to watch.
If you've been keeping up to date with Power Book IV since season 1, you'll already be aware of just how much of a rollercoaster this show is - but season 2 and, in particular, episode 9 trumped a lot. I'm really excited to see how the finale turns out next week after watching episode 9.
Beware, below will contain spoilers for the most recent Power Book IV Force episode.
Episode 9, named No Loose Ends saw two more characters killed off. Just when we thought that Brandon Doyle, Paulie, Leon, and Walter Flynn were enough. The writers had to go and kill off Miguel's mother and Nunez, his long-term associate.
The sad part? The initial plan from Mirkovic was to use Nunez to get Miguel Killed. However, Nunez decided to kill his mother instead, something he thought would be more powerful. However, Tommy and Mireya soon found out that Mirkovic and Nunez were working together and were behind this. Tommy kidnaps Nunez, tortures him and then takes him to Miguel. Miguel doesn't hesitate to kill Nunez in an act of revenge for his mother.
Tommy making this move was his latest attempt to try and become the top dog, knocking Miguel off his throne. However, Miguel does seem to be onto Tommy. Miguel informs Mireya that he plans to kill Tommy to ensure that he doesn't get an upper hand on him.
Mireya wastes no time telling Tommy what Miguel is planning to do. This is the moment that we first saw who Mireya would support - her brother or Tommy. Her loyalty appears to lie with Tommy.
Next, we have Diamond who is not doing very well after the death of Leon. Leon was becoming something of a son to Diamond - he took him under his wings. If you remember, Leon was killed in episode seven. In this episode, Diamond tries to find Leon's killer and succeeds in doing so. However, he cannot do anything about it - Leon's killer is the nephew of a main member of the drug gang that they have built a partnership with in Chicago. Unfortunately, he cannot get the revenge that he so desperately wants and probably needs.
So, what does Diamond do? He needs to focus on Leon's father, Jamal, who was very abusive towards Leon. Jamal wants revenge on Diamond as he feels wronged by him. He's trying to tell Diamond's parole officer that he's back into the drug scene.
Once Diamond finds out that Jamal is trying to do this, he wants to kill Jamal. Partly because of this but, of course, because he is still grieving Leon. It does seem like Diamond needs some kind of closure and he's desperate to find it.
Diamond succeeds in killing Jamal. I can't tell if this is Diamond slowly unravelling into insanity and bad decisions or if he is genuinely acting as some kind of karmic power.
By the way, Diamond also got an early release from his parole which is great news for all Diamond fans. I need to ask, though; do you think he's on a bit of a downward spiral now?
Last but by no means least, Claudia and Shanti are making big moves in the drug scene, making a reputation for themselves in Chicago.
This comes as a surprise (whether it's welcomed or not is up to your personal opinions on them) since they were cut from CBI and the Flynn family. Tommy also seems incredibly impressed by the pair making moves.
On a side note: Claudia is proving herself as a boss this season. She just keeps making amazing moves.
Importantly, Mirkovic and Claudia struck up a deal with Marquez Cartel from Detriot. Mirkovic had a few wins this week when he escaped from an attack, too. He always pleasantly surprises me.
In shock, we find out that Claudia and Tommy are working together. Tommy does seem to be the top dog this week, doesn't he? Do you think this will change or he will take Miguel's throne?
What an episode it was and I hope this recap summarised it all up nicely. This season of Power Book IV Force has been a complete rollercoaster and with the final coming out next week, I cannot wait to see what the producers and writer have in store for us.
