WWE could be sold to Saudi Arabian owners

Vince McMahon is currently in talks to sell WWE to Saudia Arabia's Public Investment Fund

Something that comes as a shock to many: Vince McMahon has reportedly returned to WWE and has sold it to Saudi Arabia. It was reported that Saudia Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), the same owners of Newcastle United, has bought WWE. Not only that but they are set to allow McMahon to be the Head of Creative. This is a shocking decision given that McMahon retired after being accused of sexual misconduct.

It has to be said, that none of this has been confirmed. In fact, there are allegedly no deals in the talks with PIF. The story continues to develop and as it does we will make sure to keep you updated.

Does WWE have ties to Saudi Arabia?

It isn't completely outlandish to assume that WWE would make a deal with Saudi Arabia. Every year, WWE has held an annual event in Saudia Arabia. Of course, this doesn't come without its fair share of criticism. The nation doesn't have a wonderful track record on human rights.
However, despite the backlash, McMahon decided to maintain a relationship with PIF - a seemingly mutually beneficial decision. PIF bought Newcastle united in 2021 for £300m.
The investment fund is controlled by the Saudi Prince, Mohammed Bin Salman. He is thought to be one of the wealthiest men in the world.

What happened to Vince McMahon?

In July 2022, McMahon decided to walk away from his senior role at WWE. This was following the revelations that he paid four women £ 9.8 million for their silence. He was accused of infidelity and sexual misconduct. At 77 years old, he decided to leave the company to his daughter. He then returned as an executive, and she resigned at the same time.

WWE has been a publicly traded company since 1999. If this sale is confirmed, WWE would become private for the first time since then. Do you think this is a good thing?
