Episode 6, ‘The Tender Trap’
Episode 6, titled 'The Tender Trap', starts at the bar named 'The Tender Trap' and ends in the same bar, but what happens in between is nothing less than a trap for the characters.
This episode carries on the hunt for Dot; everyone is out looking for her, but obviously not everyone’s finding her for good. Tillman seems to be tired of this hunt for Dot/Nadine, and at the same time, Gator's stupid mistakes leave him unimpressed. This episode also gives a peek into India's personal life, highlighting the stress that her thousand-dollar debt brings her. All while Lorraine avenges the bank owner who withdrew her proposal of buying his bank following her rue with Roy.
Highlights of Fargo Season 5 Episode 6 Recap.
Roy and Lorraine face off.
After Lorraine refuses Roy's proposal to help him get hold of Dot/Nadine, the latter makes a plan to avenge her. The part of the plan is to get hold of the banker she is dealing with and make him withdraw his proposal of selling his bank to her.
Roy finds him at 'The Tender Trap' bar, threatens to kill him, and tells him to break his deal with Lorraine for his life. Roy's plan works as Lorraine loses on the deal, but she is not the one who takes it quietly.
This whole 'Tit for Tat' thing between Roy and Lorraine would end up bad for banker Vivian Dugger.
Indira's irresponsible husband
Scotty, who is now hiding at Indira's house, spent the whole day at her house, and we got to have a peek into Indira’s personal life. That introduces us to her sexist husband, who is no less than a complaint box. He is always complaining about not having a good wife and makes Indira count on the qualities that he wishes to have in his wife, which typically reflects his patriarchal mindset.
It all starts when Indira asks her husband to look after Scotty while she's out on duty. This also reflected that it's all on Indira's shoulders to get rid of their thousand-dollar debt because her husband is not a bit concerned about it.
While Indira is stressed about paying off the debt, her irresponsible husband, Lars cares about none but himself.
Roy goes to Ole after Gator fails.
The man Gator kidnapped, thinking him to be Dot's husband, is not him but some other man, and it is Roy who finds this out. Once Roy found out this, he went to the kidnapped man and shot him in the face, killing him. Then he confronted his son, Gator, for being so irresponsible.
This does not end well for Gator, as it made Roy get into a deal with Ole again to get hold of Dot/Nadine.
When Roy meets up with Ole to make another deal, Gator secretly implants a detector device under Ole's car. What's the intention behind it and how would it end for Ole are things to look up to in the next episode.
FBI agents investigate Wayne.
The two FBI agents who were looking for Dot are determined to find her out, and they have reasons.
When they fail to find Dot, they try to investigate her husband, Wayne, but to no good as he is still under the effects of getting wired.
Anyway, they inform Wayne that his wife has a husband from her previous marriage who is now out to find her.
Indira teams up with the FBI.
This investigation is interrupted by Indira, who connects the dots and realizes that the two men had come to kidnap Dot's husband, Wayne, the previous day.
She talks with the two FBI agents, who tell her that they wanted Dot because, being Roy's ex-wife, she would have details of all the other big names involved with Tillman and his illegal business of weapons that he runs with his now-father-in law.
Indira requests that they work with her to help out the victim, Dot.
We see a soft spot develop in Indira for Dot after she gets to know her story of how she escaped an abusive man years ago to start a fresh life, only to get followed by him again.
Lorraine offers Indira a job.
After Scotty spent a whole day at Indira's house, the latter took her back to drop her off at Lorraine's house, where she met up with Lorraine.
Indira takes out her frustration at Lorraine and also gives her Dot's case file, asking her to go through it before she makes remarks about her daughter-in-law.
Here, it's mostly Lorraine's oblivious and hateful behavior towards Dot that makes Indira blurt out at her.
She also condemns her for getting Dot into the hospital following some mental disorder claims.
All Indira asks her for is to get to know about Dot's abusive past before making remarks against her.
But just as she prepared to leave, Lorraine startled her with a job offer to lead her security team that came with good pay. Indira is taken aback by the offer, so she asks her for some time to decide.
Lorraine looks at Dot's past.
Though Lorraine never liked Dot, she could not resist herself from reading her investigation case file that Indira left for her to go through.
She reluctantly takes a look at it, and the moment she sees the abused Dot/Nadine's photograph from the past, her face changes to something similar to sympathy.
How it would affect Lorraine's relationship with Dot is something to look into in the next episode.
Is there any chance that Lorraine would sympathize with Dot and help her fight against the bad Roy Tillman?
Well, we'll have to wait to know that.
