Great expectations


Great Expectations episode 2 starts with Miss Havisham making Pip and Estella play a game where he has to find Estella blindfolded, and if he succeeds in doing so, she is all his, after blindfolding Pip she reminds Estella that the rule of the game states that she must not move.

In another scene, we see Pip's sister Sara constantly smacking Mr. Pumblechuk.

Throughout the game, Miss Havisham creates obstacles to teach him about what Love is, also describes how the man she wanted to marry failed to appear at the wedding and left her broken, at the end of the game, she whispers to Estella ordering her to move, convincing Pip that Love cheats and Hurts.

Pip tells Miss Havisham that he wants to learn how to become a gentleman. We see Estella telling Pip how hard and horrible it is for her to live here, she needs to find a rich man to take her out of there.

She calls Herbert, to meet Pip, where she addresses him as a Blacksmith's boy, soon Herbert punches right into Pip's face, and Estella forces a fight between them, and when asked by Pip why is she making them fight for no reason, she claims this is how gentlemen behave.
The scene shifts to Old Bailey, Court Number One, where Jaggers is banging on the door in hopes of getting his clients in front of the judge.

But the Judge is seen putting a pistol on his head and trying to kill himself, but soon the judge opens the door and lets Jaggers in.

The lawyer forces the judge to sign paperwork for a prisoner to be released, and the prisoner who was about to be executed gets free before being hung just in time.

Returning home, Sara asks Pip how was Miss Havisham and what was it like meeting her, he tells his sister about how he spent his first day there, he was about to tell her about Estella but he gets cut by Mr. Pumblechuk who arrives with a piece of good news and says that Miss Havisham is impressed by Pip that she would like him to come over every Wednesday to continue his personal and private education to the position of a Gentlemen.

Now Biddy, who is the smart kid in school is a good friend of Pip, and he needs her help, Pip says that her cleverness is seen as a horn on a horse, Odd, alarming, and of no practical use.

He would like it if Biddy tutors him, to which she agrees and says her mind and her library are all his.

Now, every Wednesday Pip is taught how to sit, walk, bow, and thrash like a gentleman, soon time passes by and we see an older Pip and Estella, once again meeting at the gate and this time Pip is turning eighteen so Estella tells him that they have a surprise for him on his birthday, upon entering the house he realizes that the surprise is not a cake but an important lesson to be taught, according to Miss Havisham and Estella a gentleman should be proficient in all things like horse riding, dancing, boxing, and sex.

Pip hesitates a bit but soon does exactly what he is told.

Now the scene shifts to Mr. Jaggers getting a letter from Miss Havisham, one of his oldest clients, she says that the time has come, and Mr. Jaggers quickly comprehends that Pip has turned Eighteen and asks his scribe to write his response to Miss Havisham about Pip and how he will accommodate the boy and help him be whom she needs him to be.

Further, into the episode we see Estella talking to Pip in french, which surprises him at first but later he understands that this is the latest thing he needs to learn.

He goes to Biddy, her childhood friend who tutored him before, and as always he needs her to teach him the new language.

To his surprise, Biddy knows french and says that she used to speak French all thetime when her grandmother was alive.

Biddy teaches Pip French and soon they start to talk to each other in French, similarly, Estella makes sure he practices the language to get better.

Later on a boat with Biddy, Pip expresses how he is happy and exceeding expectations as Miss Havisham and Estella are pleased with the progress he is making day by day.
Now we see Miss Havisham explaining an exercise to Pip where he, as a gentleman is attending a society ball and there is a lady who only speaks French, he has to introduce himself and ask her to dance.

She introduces him to a beautiful society ball built by her father, now she calls Estella and orders Pip to ask her to dance, to which he replies that he cannot dance, Estella soon teaches him how to dance step by step and therefore we see a montage where he practices the dance with Biddy to perfect it.

On a random day, all of a sudden while dancing Miss Havisham interrupts them and asks Pip if He has fallen in love with Estella, to which he replies that his intention was never to fall in love, Miss Havisham, therefore, makes it clear that she doesn’t care and wants him to do more to impress Estella.

She insists Pip buy some good clothes, which fit a gentleman better using the money she gave her.

But Pip responds that he gave the money to his family and has nothing, from which he can buy clothes.

Finally, she hands him her father's stock and tells him to buy a new suit that will be able to impress any woman.

She also tells him to come in the clothes that hide the blacksmith's boy he used to be beneath the gentleman he will become.
Pip heads down to the market to sell the coin to get the money in return.

He returns back to the house with his new clothes, looking like a gentleman in hopes to impress Estella. But when he arrives, We can see Estella crying and looking out the window.

She arrives at the main gate to meet Pip only to tell him that Miss Havisham says to tell him that his education there is over now, she further explains that he is not invited to the house anymore or ever again.

She ends up by saying that the one last lesson they want to teach is that to be a Gentleman, it must always be him who holds the key to the gate, Otherwise, he will always be disappointed.

Although we hear Pip say, “I’m in love with you,” but really softly. This Episode comes to an end with Pip drinking at a bar and Jaggers looking for him screaming his name.
