Set in a cricket drama in the background, the film focuses on two friends who share good bonds despite their different religions. However, things between them soon turn sour when a conspiracy ignites hatred in them for each other on the basis of their different religions. Unaware of the ill-intentions of the conspirator, the fight between them soon takes on a bigger form, with the entire village getting divided on a communal basis.
However, the communal fights were intentionally brought up by the politically involved heads of the village to gain more votes that way.
The moral message of the film is sent through the character of Moideen Bhai, played by Rajnikanth, who restores unity among villagers and makes them realize the importance of living in harmony.

The film initially gained positive reviews but received mixed reviews from critics. While the film tries to deliver a strong message that is very relevant in current times, it fails to wrap it up in an engaging storyline. That’s where the film lacks.
The film was content-rich, but it got weak at keeping the audience hooked all through, at times making them feel bored with the predictable storyline.
While the film failed to bring the audience to theaters, it was successful in making headlines right after its release. That has brought up a quest among audiences to find out the Lal Salaam OTT release date.
