‘Landman’ Season 2 Episode 4 Preview

If Landman Season 2 Episode 3 felt like the world tightening its grip around Tommy Miller and everyone orbiting his chaotic universe, Episode 4 is shaping up to be the moment that pressure finally starts drawing blood. Last week’s episode left nearly every storyline dangling over the edge; a deadly H₂S leak, Ariana stepping into a world she wasn’t prepared for, Dan Morrell playing savior with a devil’s grin, the M-Tex finances proving more tangled than barbed wire, and Cami sinking deeper into desperation. So many pieces ready to collide, Episode 4 will very likely turn into the hour where loyalties fracture, truths slip, and a few characters face consequences they’ve been putting off for too long.

Tommy’s Hunt for Alan And the Truth

One of the biggest threads Episode 4 has to pull on is Tommy’s pursuit of Alan. At the end of Episode 3, Tommy and Cami cornered him long enough to make him promise answers, but promises aren’t worth much in the Landman universe, especially when backed by a man who helped bury millions of dollars under a maze of shell companies and fake fixes.

Episode 4 will likely open with Tommy preparing for what might be the most important meeting of his life. With M-Tex hanging on by a whisper and the IRS practically sharpening its knives, Tommy knows that if Alan doesn’t show up or worse, shows up with more lies everything collapses; his ranch, his reputation, Angela’s champagne-dream lifestyle, and even Ainsley’s education are at stake.

But what’s even more interesting is this: Alan isn’t stupid. He knows he’s cornered, and men like Alan don’t go down alone. We may see him try to spin the blame back toward Monty, or suggest that other shareholders were involved. He could even angle toward Dan Morrell, since Dan’s appetite for legitimacy puts him near any financial opening he can exploit. If Alan decides Dan is a safer devil to run to than Tommy, Episode 4 might mark the moment Dan steps into M-Tex’s books.

And if that happens? Tommy’s war has officially begun.

Cami’s Dangerous Hope

One of the most heartbreaking beats from Episode 3 was watching Cami cling to Monty’s photograph like a lifeline while her world crumbled. She’s grieving, but she’s also drowning; emotionally, financially, and morally, that makes her the perfect target for Dan Morrell.

Dan’s strategy is predictable but lethal: offer solutions to broken people and Cami is as broken as they come right now.

Expect Episode 4 to put Cami in a morally compromising corner. She wants to save Monty’s legacy, and if she starts believing that Dan is the only man who can rescue the company Monty built, she may begin walking a path she can’t reverse. Rebecca and Tommy will likely try to warn her, but Tommy’s warnings may sound like jealousy or pride instead of genuine concern, especially with Dan playing the “I only want to help” card.

There’s a good chance Episode 4 gives us the first major fracture between Tommy and Cami, and Dan will be standing right in the center of it, smiling.

Cooper at the Crossroads

Tommy told Cooper to stop drilling immediately and show up at Dorothy’s funeral, promising to explain everything there. We can expect Episode 4 to pick up from there, with Cooper torn between two worlds; the one where he becomes a billionaire overnight, and the one where he tries not to let money destroy him the way it destroyed so many others before him.

For Cooper, this is the episode where he must answer the question; What kind of man does he want to be?

But there’s more tension brewing. Cooper doesn’t know the full extent of Dan’s manipulations yet. Once Tommy lays out the truth, Dan’s criminal past, his need to use Cooper as a “clean front,” and the danger of staying tied to him, Cooper may be forced into a decision that cuts against everything he believed about ambition and fairness.

Will he walk away from a fortune? Or will he assume he can outsmart a man like Dan? Either choice leads him into conflict with Dan, with Tommy, or even with himself.

Ariana Learns What Survival Really Looks Like

Ariana’s storyline is quickly becoming one of the most grounded and emotionally raw arcs of the season. In Episode 3, she found out just how ugly the working environment at The Patch Café can be, and how quickly a seemingly harmless joke can bleed into violence.

Episode 4 will likely show her trying to rebuild her sense of stability, especially after breaking a man’s nose on her first day. But her biggest battle isn’t just the job, it’s learning to navigate life without Cooper’s financial safety net.

Expect her to struggle, but also expect her to harden. Ariana’s journey looks like it’s shaping into a “rise from the ashes” narrative, and Episode 4 may be the point where she locks into survival mode, ready to take on the world even if it claws back.

The lingering question is whether Cooper attends the funeral and if so, whether they cross paths again; their breakup was heartbreaking, but not final. Episode 4 may hint at whether their story is done or merely paused.

Dale, Jerrell & the Fallout of the H₂S Leak

The aftermath of the leak isn’t over, far from it. Someone will need to answer for the bodies left behind. Someone will have to justify taking that lease. And someone will have to deal with the environmental and legal blowback that is surely coming.

Since Tommy wants the land because of its money-making potential, Episode 4 might show him balancing what’s ethically right with what’s financially crucial. Meanwhile, Jerrell may still be recovering in the hospital and his near-death experience could open a new storyline around safety, liability, and the brutal reality of this industry.

Dan Morrell Tightens the Net

Dan is the kind of villain who doesn’t roar—he whispers. And Episode 4 could be his most dangerous hour yet. He now has:

Cooper in his pocket

Cami in emotional freefall

Angela wrapped around the luxury he offers

Alan possibly desperate enough to seek him out

Episode 4 may be where Dan makes his boldest move, not with violence, but with opportunity and that is exactly what Tommy fears most.

Final Thoughts

Episode 4 seems poised to be about consequences, Tommy is running out of time, Cooper is running out of innocence, Cami is running out of hope, and Ariana is running out of safety nets. Meanwhile, Dan Morrell is running out of patience.

Episode 4 may not deliver the explosion yet, but it will almost certainly light the fuse.
