NYC weather warning issued as heavy snowfall is predicted from Monday midnight to Tuesday afternoon.
The NYC weather is again making headlines, as we expect it to take extreme form in the next few hours. An advisory from the authorities has been given out to fellow New Yorkers to prepare them for the upcoming winter weather.
New Yorkers had a good time for a long time with the nice weather, but now the time has come when Mother Nature’s extreme form cannot be escaped anymore. As per the weather forecast, NYC is expected to have light rain starting Monday at midnight and it is expected to transition into snow by Tuesday morning.
Mayor Eric Adams, along with other authorities heads, took it to the media to spread the advisory to the New Yorkers. He said that they were taking the NYC weather warning seriously and expected the citizens to do the same.
Here’s the NYC weather prediction:
Snowfall can get heavy at some point, and on average, five to eight inches of snow are expected. The weather will cause low visibility and gusty winds, leading to slippery and unsafe roads.
The advisory asked citizens to avoid taking the road and stay at home if possible. Schools will remain closed, and students will take the remote learning option by having virtual classes.
The mayor further advised citizens to take up public transportation for the specified days, as the fewer vehicles on the road will enable better snow clearing for them.
While the city services will be effective, the alternate side of the street parking will remain closed. The mayor also asked citizens to call 311 or 911 if they encounter someone in emergency danger, and he also asked people to keep a check on their neighbors.
Commissioner Tisch also shared the warning, sharing the highlights and saying that NYC will have winter weather on Monday and Tuesday. Starting with a little rain around Monday midnight, it will transition into snow by Tuesday morning after raining for a few hours.
One to two inches of snowfall can occur for several hours on Tuesday morning, and she further advised people to remain at home if possible and to avoid the roads as much as possible.
All outdoor events will remain canceled, and the New York City sanitation workers will get to work right off Monday midnight, starting with putting salt on every possible street, highway, and bike lane, and will be ready to plow snow when it gets more than two inches.
To ease and speed the operation, New Yorkers are requested to stay off the road as much as possible.
Authorities also said that the weather forecast is subjective to real-time changes, and they will keep sending updates with timely modifications.
