Succession Season 4 Episode 8- Recap

The most anticipated episode by far of the show begins with Election Day, we see everyone rushing up to report the results at the ATN. The competition happens to be in between the Democratic leader Daniel Jiménez and the right-conservative rival, Jeryd Mencken. We see Tom all excited and hyped up to cover the election as Greg comes up to him for the 5 P.M. broadcasting asking if everything is good. Tom replies that everything is fine and he is great considering the fact that it is his first post-Logan election. And he says he has Cyd running around the town, spitting poison like a cobra with an I-phone, He has PGN to the left of him, and FVA to the right. He has to deliver the best election numbers ever because their bosses want to rip his heart out as a piece offering to all corners. Kendall calls Tom to remind him that he needs good numbers in this election, Tom assures him that he would get the numbers. Kendall tells everyone about this, he says that Tom says exit polls are in the favor of Jimenez, and Shiv assures as she says she got four smileys from Gil, they think they got it, Roman says that he also got some eggplant-eggplant-flag from Mencken. Shiv says that two eggplants are not as much as four smileys, Roman says that four smileys is symptomatic of the complacency at the heart of his out-of-touch campaign, Shiv says that the eggplant flag reeks of the misogynist bravado that has so repelled the median voter. Shiv asks him about the Nazi vans, Roman thinks of them as the fun vans, Shiv tells him that in Florida they have picked people up from the streets telling them they were taking them to vote, and a kid got left at the highway and she thinks that is Kidnapping, Roman chuckles by saying false flag. Shiv calls Lukas and tells him about the situation saying that Jimenez winning is a good sign for them and the democracy, she thinks that they consider releasing his funky numbers the next day, or the day after the next day, to which, Lukas replies that last night he was talking to Oskar and Greggory about that, Shiv confirms if he told Greg about this, Lukas told her that he was just a part of the conversation as a normalist. Lukas asks Shiv to keep his terrible secret a secret, Shiv gets a call from Nate at that exact moment, She asks how are the thing in Mission Control Denver, and he replies that he is just watching the weather not the Election results, he tells her that he is scared but everything is going good so far. However, Precinct data tells them that Pennsylvania and Arizona can be tough. Shiv tells him to keep the channel open on all things, Mattson, her, and the new ATN.
Now, In the next scene, Kendall is having his wife and daughter monitored by giving extra security to protect them even though his daughter and ex-wife are getting scared by seeing the vehicles chasing them. He tells his daughter that he won't let the world push her, he says over the phone. He then calls Jiménez, trying to play both sides while the big U.S. map board over at ATN is preparing to push Mencken's numbers. Tom at his office is seen sniffing some cocaine and further, he forces Greg to do the same. The network seems to be down to its last available touchscreen when a big story appears. A voting center in Wisconsin is burned to the ground, and the ATN has yet to report about it. It seems like this is everyone's first day of work having to actually do their jobs, things get messier and messier. We now see Tom going furious with Shiv, he is throwing a tantrum, and she takes him out for a minute to talk and even apologizes for their fight the prior night, she says that her father just died and he should not do something like this, Shiv reveals something that was unpredictable, she tells him that she is pregnant with his child. But Tom not only tells Shiv that her actions are the reasons that led to her father's death, but that we see him questioning if her baby is even his. Shiv walks out crying and sobbing, she goes to her brother and tells them that it is now enough with her and Tom, she tells them to not trust him anymore.
While everything is so fired up, we see Roman sneaking away and telling the ATN anchor to start just matching the right poison live, Kendall says that he does not feel right but Roman thinks It's a nice idea that all the different people would be together. Roman now reveals that he's been supporting Mencken not just for the network, but because the Republican nominee promised that he would be hard on the tech industry and use the Foreign Trade Commission to block the GoJo deal should he become President.
We see Roman betray everyone for a business deal. The betrayal makes it even worse when he says that since his Dad is dead, the country is just a big pussy waiting to get fucked, it doesn't really matter.

Connor arrives to acknowledge the win to Mencken on-air, He says goodbye to his supporter and tells everyone to beware of the Connheads.
Kendall is starting to feel like choosing the other candidate is better for their business as well, but we see him questioning if that makes him a bad father, Shiv tells him that he is a good father at least that he tried, but still he tells Shiv to call Jiménez in hopes of getting out a deal with the Democrats as well. Shiv, makes the call, despite playing from both sides. She lies to her brother saying there is still hope, while we know she pretended to call Kendall and proceeds to talk to Nate on his own, and at that point, Shiv stops him by saying they might be busy, Kendall eventually finds out, he gets shocked. Kendall and Roman confront Shiv and despite the fact that she betrayed her brothers She threatens to go public, but it is too late and they too don't care. It would ruin her as well.
