How did Sweet Home Season 1 End?
Before diving into Season 2, let's take a quick trip down memory lane about how Season 1 ended.
After Hyun-soo's transformation and taking down Ui Myeong, the military encircles the Green Home Apartments in search of special infectees. Shockingly, Ui Myeong's escape via a military truck reveals he didn't meet his demise as initially thought.
Despite this chaos, Hyun-soo decides to surrender to the military while the other survivors from Green Home seek refuge in an underground bunker. However, one survivor, Eun Hyuk, chooses to stay behind after he realises he's been infected.
Yi-Kyung, unable to fulfil her part of the agreement with the military, strikes a new deal and joins their ranks, separating from the other survivors.
In the final moments of the season, Hyun-soo departs in a military truck with someone who appears to be Sang-wook. However, it's revealed that Ui Myeong has taken possession of Sang-wook's body.
How Did Sweet Home Season 2 Start?
Ui-myeong's unsettling experience with Sang-wook's memories induces overwhelming distress and confusion, leading to a car crash while en route to Bamseom with Hyun-su. The accident critically injures a soldier, compelling Hyun-su to reluctantly end the soldier's life.
The episode concludes with Hyun-su dragging a pleading Ui-myeong toward a group of soldiers who, without hesitation, open fire, seemingly ending the lives of both Hyun-su and Ui-myeong.
Chief Ji's Deception
First up is Chief Ji's deception, which really was a bit of a shock to us. Chief Ji leads Seung Wan somewhere and ultimately abandons him due to recognising his symptoms, betraying him. Were you expecting him to do this?
Unravelling Truths
Tak In-Hwan discovers that somebody has been tampering with electricity and confronts Chief Ji after finding a ring, leading to her daughter's capture. Chief Ji feigns ignorance, selling out her daughter. This was really quite a shock, too. Judging from fan's reactions, this has led Chief Ji to become quite unlikeable in the series.
Sergeant Kim's Rescue Mission
Sergeant Kim and his comrade rescue a kid and just out of pure luck, the kid knows where their missing friend could potentially be. They eventually located his whereabouts - this was one of the more positive parts of Sweet Home's finale.
Humanity's Survival and Final Confrontation
Just like with season one, the ultimate question revolves around humanity's survival and the pivotal confrontation between monsters and humans, raising uncertainties about the characters' fate and the survival of the human race.
Heartbreaking Revelations
Eun-Yu informs Hyun Su about the tragic demise of many survivors, including Ji-Su. Hyun Su retrieves Yi-Kyung's daughter as her mother passes away, inadvertently causing her transformation into a monster.
Emotional Goodbyes
Chan-Young bids farewell to Eun-Yu, who chooses to stay by Hyun Su's side. They part ways, acknowledging their differing ways of coping. Another emotional goodbye happened when Yi-Kyung succumbs to carbon monoxide poisoning, her demise was ultimately inevitable but sad nonetheless.
Unveiling Secrets
Sergeant Kim and his companion confront suspicious survivors, encountering a sinister man who turns out to be a monster. Meanwhile, Sang-Wook leads Dr. Lim to the MH-1 test subject, unveiling his identity.
How does Season 2 of Sweet Home End?
So, now it's the final scene in the long-awaited K drama. How will it end? We have to say, it certainly did shock us. So, the scene starts at the site of the former green apartments. The embryo releases another person but who could it be? None other than Eun-Hyeok emerges, unharmed and revered by monsters, revealing his survival.
If you remember, in Season One, we all thought he had been killed by the falling rubble after trying to rescue Cha Hyun-soo. We all believed him to be infected after seeing the nosebleed which meant he ultimately sacrificed/killed himself after putting himself on the "infected" list. However, since season one, many fans have speculated about Eun-Hyeok returning.
What can we expect in Season 3?
Although Season 3 hasn't been confirmed, this season concludes with various cliffhangers and emotional turmoil, leaving characters in shocking situations, hinting at complex developments for the next season of Sweet Home. What do you think will happen in the next season?
