Here's the brief recap of The Buccaneers Episode 7 Recap. Get the highlights of the episode and know what to expect in the next episode.
After the Christmas celebration of episode 6, which ended with Nan's secret of being an illegitimate out, The Buccaneers episode 7 starts with the New Year's Eve party hosted by the Brightlingsea.
It's New Year's Eve Party
The episode starts with Theo and Nan arriving at the party, but the latter is worried about how everyone will react to her now that they know about her illegitimacy. Her worry was not in vain, as everyone at the party seemed to know about it and treated her indifferently. This made Nan feel uncomfortable, and she soon left Theo's side, telling him that she was going to find her friends when, in reality, she just wanted to hide from the crowd at the party. We see Nan going to the washroom to hide, and she cries there silently.
Patti calls off her marriage to Tracy.
Patti St. George and her husband Tracy come to the New Year's party as a surprise. They surprise both Jinny and Nan; however, after knowing that Jinny spilled out the news of Nan being illegitimate, Patti expressed her disappointment in Jinny.
Later, Ms. Patti also has a dance with Theo, and while talking to him, she realizes the power that she is going to have soon, once her daughter marries Theo, the Duke. This brings about a shift in her, and she feels powerful enough to confront Tracy. She tells him how she has had enough of being with him, despite him always eyeing other women. Tracy tries to dismiss her, but she tells him that she will divorce him once they get back to New York after Nan gets married.
Guy comforts Nan.
Guy, who is also present at the party, notices Nan being upset with how people are talking about her. After Nan introduces him to her parents at the party, Nan takes him up to the roof. The two spend some alone time in silence, watching the sky. They lie side by side on the roof, their fingers brushing at one moment. They just lie there in silence, and Guy tells Nan to not let others make her feel embarrassed or ashamed. This lifts up Nan, and when they finally get down, we see Nan in a better mood, smiling.
Theo and Guy's rivalry gets upfront.
Theo sees Nan and Guy coming down together laughing; this doesn't make him feel good, and he meets Guy in private, where he confronts him about his telegram that he had sent for Nan. Knowing that Theo had received the telegram but hid it from Nan makes Guy feel angry, and after some arguments, the two get into a fight.
As everyone else in the party begins the countdown for the new year, Theo and Nan get into a fight.
Nan, Theo, and Guy face the truth.
After the fight, Theo makes Guy tell Nan about the telegram, and he urges him to tell her what it said. Nan, after knowing the truth, confronts Theo about why he did not talk to her if he knew about her illegitimacy. The two get into an argument, and after a while, Nan leaves the room. Later, we see Guy and Nan sitting together, where she asks him if he meant what he wrote in the telegram. Guy tells her he did, but says that now it was best for both of them to move on.
Jinny feels suffocated.
This episode does not show Jinny being manipulated by James, as was the case in the previous episodes. But it has scenes where Jinny seems to realize the truth about James, and she feels suffocated.
When her parents surprise her, we see that Jinny tries to make herself seem clean by telling them that she revealed Nan’s secret but for her good. This shows that somewhere she feels guilty about Nan's secret being out because of her or James.
Later, she also sees James being inappropriate with Lizzy while she is playing a game with others outside, indicating that Jinny is close to realizing the real face of James.
Also, there are scenes where we see Jinny caressing her stomach, indicating she might be pregnant. Jinny seems upset and confused, telling us that she might be up to something big in the next episode.
Richard is upset and ditches the party.
Richard is visibly upset after the departure of Miss Testvalley. He confesses about his relationship with Miss Testvalley to his mother, but feels hurt when he realizes she always knew about them but never talked to him about it.
At the end, we see Conchita coming to comfort Richard, and the two share some talks, which end with Conchita hugging Richard tightly.
Other than these major highlights, the episode has a scene where Conchita and Lizzy get together to comfort Nan. The trio spent some fun time alone after a long time.
Just like how the episode started with everyone arriving for the New Year party, the episode ends with everyone heading home.
It's a new year in The Buccaneers, and we are yet to see what new turns in the lives of the cast take place in the next episode.
