Will Max finally choose between Helen and Wilder? Find out in this New Amsterdam recap
The last episode of New Amsterdam saw the shocking return of Helen, conveniently placed at the very end of the episode to keep us guessing. Episode 11 did not hold back with the drama and speculation, either. So, let's dive into the latest New Amsterdam recap.
The episode starts with Max still visibly shaken by seeing Helen. He maturely explains why it was hard for him to his new budding romance, Wilder. She understandably tells him that she won't be part of somebody else's romantic drama - which I support wholeheartedly. Then, Max receives a message from Helen which says "Can I see you tonight?"

Max clearly is looking for some kind of distraction. To his luck, a team-bonding nature hike is on grabs and he decides to go for it. He takes Iggy, Elizabeth, Lauren, and Ben. Iggy was super easy to convince as he's trying to avoid signing his divorce papers.
Meanwhile, Floyd and Gabriel are participating in an intense makeout session. They are interrupted by Floyd's old friend who tells him that his son is in ICU. Floyd promises him that he will look after his sick son.

Floyd is operating on Manny's son when all of a sudden a radiation team tells him he has to move the boy. Floyd refuses as he understands the severity of the situation.
On the retreat, Iggy decides to bail as he seems to be in a gentle reflection. Maybe he's having some kind of personal, emotional breakthrough?
The rest of the team has to propel down the side of a 300ft cliff, which seems to be going super well until tragedy strikes and the tour guide falls down with a huge rock. Iggy runs to try to get a signal on his phone to help out.

Iggy struggles to find any kind of civilisation and lies down for a second. He hears noises - I was worried it would be the beginning of another horror. However, it is just a child sitting there eating candy. The child asks if he can join Iggy so he can find his family. In a weird turn of events, the child is actually just Iggy hallucinating his child self. It appears, amidst all the drama and trauma, Iggy is having a spiritual moment.
Again, amidst all the trauma, Max begins to tell Lauren bat Helen. Then, they hear rocks falling and unfortunately one has fallen on the tour guide's foot. They need to get her out if she has any chance of surviving which means they need to amputate her foot. It's a horrible moment but, in a weird way, it's lucky that the tour guide was with a group of doctors.
Iggy wakes up (turns out that the entire encounter was due to his tumble and was all a dream). His cell phone is beeping which is SUCH a relief.
Back to Floyd who is feeling immense pressure trying to save his friend's son's life. The radiation levels are getting higher and he is being yelled at to leave. He refuses, visibly stressed as he tries to restart the boy's heart. He desperately resorts to massaging the heart but nothing happens.
The tension is high as he carries on being yelled at but he states that he won't leave and he won't let the boy die - he did promise after all. Thankfully, it works and the boy is alive, he is transferred to OR. I think I can speak for everyone when I say this was a massive relief.
Everyone has returned from the traumatising wilderness escape. Martin (Iggy's ex) pops in to see Iggy. Iggy tells him he has signed the papers and then asks Martin to go on a date with him. It seems he wants a fresh start.
Lauren goes to a meeting and asks a girl if she wants to sit near her. She tells her that she thinks the universe placed her there to help her.

Then, the moment that we have all been waiting for. Who will Max choose? We see that he turns up to a bar and he's looking at Helen. Has he chosen her?
But then he walks away and makes his way to Elizabeth's house and tells her that he chooses her.

What do you think of this episode? Are you happy with Max's decision or were you hoping for a round two of Max and Helen?
