Silo Season 3 Episode 9 Predictions: What Could Happen in “Farewell”?

After the events of “Gray Goo,” Silo Season 3 has reached the point where almost every storyline is moving toward the same crisis. Juliette has been captured, Lukas is stranded in Silo 17, Kennedy has finally delivered crucial information, and the people inside Silo 18 are running out of time to stop Safeguard.

The most immediate storyline should be Juliette’s situation. She is now being held alongside Robert Sims, which puts two of the most important figures in the rebellion inside the same confinement area. Juliette is unlikely to simply remain there while everyone else fights for Silo 18. Her knowledge of Safeguard makes her too important to the situation, and the people outside will probably need to find a way to get her out before the final confrontation.

Robert Sims could also become an unexpected part of that escape. His position has changed dramatically throughout the season, and being trapped with Juliette could force him to choose where his loyalty really lies. If he has access to information that Juliette does not, the two could work together to understand what Camille and IT are planning. Their confinement could therefore become less of a dead end and more of a temporary alliance.

The biggest question, however, remains Safeguard. Kennedy and Jimmy have uncovered information from Silo 17 that could give Juliette's allies a way to stop the system. The survivors of Silo 17 already know what happens when Safeguard is activated, and Kennedy's discovery should allow the people in Silo 18 to attempt something similar. The problem is that whatever they do will almost certainly require someone to take an enormous risk.

Juliette's earlier plan already showed how desperate the situation has become. She was willing to sacrifice herself because she believed there was no other way to save thousands of people. Now that Kennedy has returned with new information, the group may have another option. Instead of destroying part of the silo to stop the poison, they could attempt to reach the Safeguard mechanism directly and seal it before it can release the deadly substance.

The mission could put Knox, Shirley, Martha and the other members of Juliette's group directly in danger. The rebellion has already cost the silo lives, and Episode 9 could force several characters to make decisions that cannot be undone. The title “Farewell” has naturally led to speculation that someone important could die, although the title alone does not confirm that outcome. Fans have already been debating whether the episode could mark the end of a major character.

Lukas and Kennedy's situation in Silo 17 should also become important again. Kennedy has delivered the information they needed, but Lukas is still injured and Silo 17 remains separated from Silo 18. The survivors there cannot simply return to their old lives now that they know another silo is facing the same threat they once survived. Kennedy may have to make another dangerous journey, especially if the information he provided is not enough to guide Juliette's people through the process.

Jimmy could also become more involved in the fight. His knowledge of Silo 17 and the sacrifices that were made there could help the people in Silo 18 understand exactly what they are facing. After everything he has discovered about his family, Jimmy has little reason to remain on the sidelines. His connection with Lukas could become particularly important if the two have to decide whether to risk returning to Silo 18.

Camille is another character who could play a major role in the next episode. She has already shown that she understands more about the situation than most people inside the silo. The Algorithm and IT have given her information about Juliette's plans, which means the rebellion is no longer operating completely in secret. If Camille realizes that Safeguard could kill everyone, she may begin questioning whether following the system is worth the cost.

This could create an internal conflict inside IT. The people controlling the silo may believe that they are protecting its population, but the revelation that Safeguard can wipe out an entire community changes the meaning of that protection. Camille could eventually find herself caught between the instructions she has been given and the people she is trying to protect.

The Before Times storyline is also likely to become much more important before the season ends. Episode 8 finally established that Per Stensen's plan involved creating the underground silos as a way to preserve humanity from a catastrophic technological threat. Apple has confirmed that Season 3 is deliberately using this earlier timeline to reveal the origins of the silo system and the events that eventually led to the underground world.

Daniel and Helen walking away from Stensen's offer could therefore have major consequences. They now know that the project is real, but they also know that the people behind it are preparing something on an enormous scale. Helen refuses to become part of the deception, while Daniel chooses to leave with her. Episode 9 could show what happens immediately after that decision and how their attempt to expose the truth begins to unravel.

Charlotte's future could be especially important here. Her connection to the project and her complicated relationship with Daniel have placed her in the middle of the conspiracy. If she remains involved with Stensen, she could become one of the people who helps shape the silo system from the inside. If she changes her mind, she could instead become a source of information for Daniel and Helen.

Episode 8 explains why Stensen believes humanity needs the silos, but it does not completely answer why the people running them eventually created such an oppressive system. The Safeguard mechanism raises an even bigger question: if the silos were designed to preserve humanity, why was there ever a system capable of deliberately killing everyone inside one?

That question could become the central mystery of Episode 9. Bernard himself has already begun asking what exactly the Safeguard is protecting the silos from. The answer could connect the Before Times storyline directly to Juliette's current fight. The audience may finally begin to understand that the silo system was not simply created to hide people from a toxic planet. It may have been designed around a much more specific threat.

“Farewell” could therefore bring the two timelines closer together than ever before. The events Daniel and Helen are witnessing in the past may explain the decisions Juliette is being forced to make in the present. At the same time, Juliette's attempt to break the rules of the silo could reveal why those rules were created in the first place.

There is also a strong possibility that Episode 9 ends without completely resolving the Safeguard crisis. With only two episodes left in the ten-episode season, the story has enough room for a major cliffhanger before the finale. Juliette could escape only to discover that stopping Silo 18 is not enough, or the group could successfully reach the Safeguard system only to learn that activating it has consequences they never expected.

The word “Farewell” may ultimately refer to more than one character. It could mark the end of someone's life, the collapse of the old order inside Silo 18, or even a goodbye to the world that existed before the silos. After spending this season showing how humanity ended up underground, the series could be preparing to close this chapter by forcing its present-day characters to decide whether they are willing to continue living according to rules created hundreds of years earlier.

Whatever happens, Episode 9 is likely to push Juliette's rebellion into its final stage. She has spent the season trying to understand the truth, and now she finally has pieces of the answer. The problem is that knowing how Safeguard works does not necessarily mean knowing how to stop it.
