Ted Lasso Season 4 is now heading into its final stretch, and Episode 8 looks set to put the Lady Greyhounds under some serious pressure. The episode is titled “Follow the Anger” and is scheduled for September 23, while the available synopsis reveals that the team will face a difficult setback. The biggest question going into the episode is how the Lady Greyhounds will respond when their newly discovered confidence is tested. “Yes & Baby” ended with Alice encouraging the players to go beyond simply believing and adding “and win” to Ted's familiar message that idea is likely to be challenged almost immediately. After spending so much of the season learning how to function as a team, the Greyhounds could be forced to deal with a defeat or another major setback that exposes the cracks they have been trying to overcome. The official description specifically confirms that a difficult setback is coming, so the real story may be about whether the players allow one bad moment to undo all the progress they have made. The title “Follow the Anger” could also point toward a more emotional approach from Roy. Roy has spent much of the season struggling to understand what he actually wants, particularly where Keeley is concerned. Now that Erin has stepped aside because she recognizes that Roy still loves someone else, Roy no longer has the same excuse for keeping his feelings buried. The Wall of Legends storyline could put him and Keeley in close proximity and force them to confront the complicated history between them. (TVmaze)
It does not necessarily mean Roy and Keeley will immediately get back together. In fact, the more interesting possibility is that they finally have an honest conversation before making any decision. Roy knows that he still loves Keeley, but wanting someone and being ready to have a healthy relationship with them are two different things. After everything that happened between them, the show could use the upcoming episode to make Roy acknowledge where he went wrong rather than simply expecting Keeley to welcome him back.
Ted's storyline could also become more introspective his attempt to return to dating ended awkwardly in Episode 7 after he deleted his Bantr profile and discovered that the woman he was interested in was already seeing someone. Instead of immediately giving Ted another romantic opportunity, the next episode could focus on what he actually wants from this stage of his life. Season 4 has repeatedly placed Ted outside his familiar comfort zone, and the season premise has him learning to take chances rather than simply relying on optimism. (Apple)
Alice may also become important if the Greyhounds' setback is connected to her new philosophy. If the team suffers a painful defeat, Alice may initially try to push everyone toward another upbeat solution, only to realize that the players need space to be angry, disappointed and frustrated.
Meanwhile, Zelda's new position as Special Advisor could start producing consequences. Her involvement with Richmond has already been unpredictable, and giving her an official role means she now has a legitimate place inside the club rather than simply appearing whenever something needs fixing. Her presence could create another unusual dynamic with Rebecca, Higgins and the coaching staff, particularly if her unconventional methods clash with the club's existing way of doing things.
Roy and Keeley preparing for the event gives the show an excuse to bring them together while surrounding them with Richmond's history and familiar faces. It could also become surprisingly emotional, especially because Roy's relationship with the club has changed so much over the years. A celebration of Richmond's legends may force him to think about the kind of legacy he wants to leave behind, both professionally and personally.
