As the dust settles after Homelander’s terrifying decision to inject himself with V1, episode 7 will likely open with the world already feeling different. The biggest question hanging over the season now is not whether Homelander can be stopped, but whether anyone is still capable of understanding what he is becoming. Episode 6 ended with power tipping completely in his favor, and that shift will almost certainly reshape every relationship around him. The Boys have spent the entire season chasing the formula only to lose it in the final seconds, and that failure could finally break whatever fragile hope still existed inside the group.
Butcher, more than anyone, is expected to spiral after this loss. For weeks, he has pushed everyone toward increasingly ruthless choices under the belief that the end would justify the means. Now that Homelander possesses V1, Butcher may become even more reckless, especially knowing that every second they waste could make Homelander stronger in ways they do not yet understand. Episode 7 could force Butcher into his darkest territory yet, particularly if he begins believing there is no longer any moral line worth protecting. The tension between him and M.M. will probably intensify as well, since M.M. already seemed deeply shaken by the human cost tied to the virus plan. If Butcher doubles down, M.M. may finally reach a point where loyalty to the mission no longer outweighs his conscience.
Hughie and Starlight are likely to remain the emotional center of the story; their quiet scene in episode 6 felt intentionally placed before the storm, almost like the show reminding viewers what these characters are fighting to preserve. As Homelander is now empowered by V1, Hughie may continue searching desperately for an alternative to mass destruction, while Annie begins realizing that hope alone may no longer be enough. The series has repeatedly tested her belief that people can still choose goodness, and episode 7 may push that belief harder than ever before.
Homelander himself could become genuinely unpredictable now that V1 is inside him. The terrifying part is not just the added power, but the emotional validation that came with Soldier Boy handing it over willingly. For perhaps the first time in his life, Homelander may feel chosen instead of rejected; that kind of acceptance is dangerous for someone already obsessed with destiny and superiority. Rather than calming him, it could inflate his god complex beyond control. There is a strong chance episode 7 explores the psychological effect of finally receiving what he always believed he deserved.
The dynamic between Homelander and Soldier Boy also feels far from resolved. Soldier Boy’s decision in episode 6 was deeply tied to Clara Vought’s legacy and his growing belief that Homelander represents the continuation of that vision. But once the emotional haze fades, Soldier Boy may start seeing the consequences of what he has unleashed. If Homelander begins acting beyond anyone’s control, even Soldier Boy could realize too late that he empowered something far worse than himself. The fragile understanding may not survive long once real chaos begins.
Sister Sage’s storyline is also positioned for a major turn. Episode 6 quietly showed cracks forming in her carefully controlled plans, and that loss of control could become critical moving forward. Sage has always treated people like pieces on a board, but emotions have started interfering with her predictions in ways she did not anticipate. Now that Homelander has V1, she may discover that even she cannot fully calculate what comes next; there is a possibility she starts protecting herself instead of trying to manage the entire game.
The Deep’s emotional collapse may seem disconnected from the main war, but the show rarely includes these moments without purpose. His reaction to the dying marine life felt absurd on the surface, yet strangely sincere underneath. Episode 7 could push him into a more unstable mental state, especially as Vought continues unraveling around him. Black Noir’s revenge attack already exposed fractures inside Homelander’s circle, and with tensions rising, the Seven may begin turning on each other completely.
There is also a strong chance the next episode raises the stakes publicly instead of keeping the conflict contained behind Vought’s walls. Up until now, much of the season has revolved around secret hunts, hidden agendas, and personal betrayals. But with only one episode remaining afterward, episode 7 may finally allow the consequences to spill into the wider world. If Homelander decides to openly demonstrate what V1 has done to him, the balance of fear could shift overnight.
The tragedy woven through Bombsight and Golden Geisha’s story in episode 6 may also echo throughout the next chapter; their acceptance of mortality stood in direct contrast to Homelander’s endless hunger for power and permanence. The show rarely presents themes that clearly without revisiting them later. As the season moves toward its finale, episode 7 may continue asking whether power without humanity inevitably destroys everything around it.
Something that makes the next episode especially intriguing is that nearly every major character now stands emotionally exposed. Butcher is cornered by desperation, M.M. by guilt, Hughie by hope, Soldier Boy by legacy, and Homelander by the intoxicating belief that he was finally meant to rise above everyone else. As the endgame is now fully underway, episode 7 feels less like setup and more like the moment where the season’s emotional fractures finally explode into open war.
