Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 3 ends with the Bellarie family facing one of its darkest moments yet. After spending the season dealing with prison, betrayals, family secrets and shifting alliances, everything finally explodes in the finale.
The biggest twist is that Jules, who seemed to be out of the picture, is actually preparing his own revenge. His escape from custody puts him back in the game, and he uses Gina’s criminal network to launch a devastating attack on Make It Rain.
Here’s what really happened at the end of Beauty in Black Season 3.
Who is behind the shooting at Make It Rain?
The person ultimately responsible for the attack is Jules. After escaping from custody, Jules becomes obsessed with finding out the truth about his son Glen’s death. His investigation takes him to Sylvie, and once he learns what happened, his grief turns into a full-blown revenge mission.
Jules knows the Bellarie family better than most outsiders ever could. He understands their secrets, their criminal connections and their weaknesses. Rather than confronting them directly, he uses Gina and her network to set up the attack.
The plan comes together at Make It Rain. Gina gives the signal, and armed shooters suddenly open fire inside the club. The scene was particularly shocking is that Jules is not simply targeting one person. He is effectively attacking the entire world surrounding the Bellaries. Everyone becomes vulnerable, including Kimmie and Mallory.
Do Kimmie and Mallory survive?
Both Kimmie and Mallory are caught in the shooting and are gunned down as the club descends into chaos. The episode ends before their conditions can be properly revealed, leaving their survival as one of the biggest Season 3 cliffhangers.
For Kimmie, the danger is especially significant because of how far she has come. She entered the Bellarie world looking for a way out of a difficult life, but by Season 3 she has become deeply involved in the family's business and power structure. Her marriage to Horace has given her security and influence, but it has also placed a target on her back.
Mallory has also become increasingly important to the family's survival. Although she and Kimmie have not always seen eye to eye, they have developed an understanding that allows them to work together when necessary.
The shooting puts everything they have built at risk. Until the story continues, there is no official confirmation that either woman is dead. The apparent deaths are being used as a cliffhanger, meaning their survival remains one of the biggest questions left by the finale.
Are Horace and Norman dead?
Horace and Norman's bitter relationship finally reaches its breaking point in the Season 3 finale.
The two brothers have spent years carrying resentment toward one another, and their conflict has been fueled by family trauma, betrayal and violence. By the end of the season, there is almost nothing left between them except hatred.
Before their final confrontation, Norman breaks into Mallory's home while looking for revenge over his wife's death. Mallory shoots him, leaving him badly wounded on her kitchen floor. For a moment, Norman appears to be finished but then Horace arrives.
Despite his injuries, Norman manages to shoot Horace. Security eventually gets Horace to the hospital, but Norman is left behind, seriously wounded. The episode deliberately refuses to confirm whether either brother dies.
Norman's final moments are particularly disturbing because he is still laughing despite the pain. It gives his storyline an almost haunting ending, while Horace's condition remains uncertain after being rushed away for medical treatment.
So, as of the Season 3 finale, neither Horace nor Norman has received a confirmed death.
What happens to Charles and Varney?
Charles gets one of the most emotional storylines in the finale. After killing several men who tried to rob him, Charles becomes overwhelmed by everything happening around him. His mother Olivia is in prison, Mallory refuses to help him financially, and he is facing a massive bill connected to the cleanup of the crime scene.
But the violence is only part of his problem. Charles has been carrying years of emotional trauma, and eventually it becomes too much. He attempts to take his own life in his garage.
Fortunately, Varney arrives in time. Varney manages to save Charles, but she does not simply pretend that everything is fine afterward. She makes it clear that Charles needs serious help if they are ever going to have a healthy future together.
Charles eventually agrees to enter rehab; the two share a kiss before he begins treatment, giving their relationship a surprisingly hopeful ending in an otherwise brutal finale.
It does not mean all their problems are solved, but for the first time, Charles is actually taking a step toward dealing with the issues that have been destroying him.
Is Horace attracted to Angel?
The Season 3 finale also continues one of the show's more complicated storylines involving Horace and Angel. Kimmie has questioned Horace's sexuality for some time, particularly because of his unusual relationship with Angel. Horace clearly has an attraction to Angel, but he has never been comfortable openly acknowledging what he wants.
Their relationship becomes even more revealing when Charles realizes just how close Angel is to his father. Charles begins to see a possible connection between Horace's treatment of him and Horace's own unresolved feelings. Some of the anger Horace has directed toward Charles may come from seeing parts of himself that he refuses to confront.
After Horace is shot, Angel stays beside him in the hospital that moment leaves the relationship even more complicated. Whether Horace is ready to accept his sexuality or define what he actually wants remains unclear, but the connection between him and Angel is certainly not over.
Does Kimmie really love Horace?
Kimmie's relationship with Horace is much more complicated than a simple love story. She has found something in Horace that she desperately wanted: stability, money, security and access to a powerful world. But that does not necessarily mean she is genuinely in love with him.
Throughout Season 3, Kimmie repeatedly questions her place in Horace's life. At times, she feels like his wife, other times, she seems more like his protégé or another person he can control; their physical relationship continues, but emotionally they remain distant.
There is also the growing presence of Angel, which makes Kimmie even more uncertain about what Horace truly wants.
At the same time, Kimmie is changing. The more power she gains, the more comfortable she becomes making ruthless choices. The woman who once wanted to escape this dangerous world is now willing to protect her position inside it.
What happens to Roy, Olivia and Jules?
The season begins with several important characters facing the consequences of the FBI operation from Season 2.
Olivia remains behind bars and struggles to find a way out. Roy has an even more frightening experience. While dealing with his addiction in prison, he takes an unknown substance from another inmate. He overdoses and is taken to the hospital, leaving his fate uncertain.
Jules, however, manages to escape; he convinces an FBI agent that he can provide information about important evidence. Instead of cooperating, Jules uses the opportunity to turn against the agent and make his escape.
Once he is free, he begins searching for answers about Glen that search eventually leads him to Sylvie. When Sylvie reveals the truth about what happened, Jules responds with shocking violence and kills her.
From that point forward, his entire storyline becomes about revenge.
What does the Season 3 ending mean?
The ending of Beauty in Black Season 3 completely changes the balance of power.
Kimmie and Mallory may be fighting for their lives. Horace and Norman could both be seriously injured or potentially dead. Charles has entered rehab, while Jules has transformed from a former insider into a dangerous enemy with his own network and agenda.
The biggest difference is that Jules now has nothing left to lose. He knows the Bellaries' secrets, understands how they operate and has access to people willing to do his dirty work. His motivation is also deeply personal because everything goes back to Glen.
Meanwhile, Kimmie has become so deeply involved with the Bellarie empire that escaping it may no longer be possible. The final shooting therefore feels less like the conclusion of the story and more like the beginning of another war.
