The episode opens in 1925 with Elliot adjusting to life after choosing to remain in the past. With Kat gone and no immediate way back home, he settles into the daily routine of Port Haven and spends more time around the people connected to his mother's life.
Elliot continues trying to get answers from Tessa; their conversations remain tense at first, but she eventually opens up about her past. Tessa reveals that she once traveled through the pond with Griffin Landry. The two ended up building a life together in 1882. Years later, when she became seriously ill, Griffin traveled through the pond in search of medicine. He never returned, leaving her stranded. Afterward, she found support from the Landry family and remained with them.
As Elliot processes the information, he brings up the note and wedding ring that were supposedly sent by Tessa years ago. Tessa immediately tells him she never sent either of them. Her response leaves Elliot confused, as the mystery surrounding Griffin's disappearance remains unresolved.
Later, Elliot sings "Time After Time," prompting Tessa to reveal that she used to sing the same song to him when he was a baby. The moment creates a rare emotional connection between mother and son.
In the present day, Kat and Alice discover that footage at Coyle's has been altered. Images connected to them have been removed from an old reel. Believing Evelyn may be responsible, they travel back to the 1980s to investigate.
During their visit, they find Evelyn struggling with growing loneliness as her relationships with Colton and Del become increasingly strained. Kat and Alice soon realize Evelyn had nothing to do with altering the footage. The trip provides no answers about who actually removed the images.
Back in the present, Del spends time with Sam and discusses her lingering feelings about Colton. Sam reveals that he knows about the pond and its unusual properties. He encourages Del to think about finding closure regarding her late husband.
Elsewhere, Jacob continues growing closer to Abigail their bond strengthens as they spend more time together, and Jacob begins looking toward the future instead of focusing on the past.
In 1925, preparations are underway for a major bootlegging operation. Fern, Grayson, Cliff, and others are involved as plans move forward. At the same time, Grayson notices inconsistencies in Cliff's story and begins suspecting something is wrong.
Kat eventually reunites with Elliot in the past. Together with Fern, they try to warn everyone that danger is coming. Before they can stop anything, an undercover officer exposes the operation.
The raid throws everything into chaos. Members of the operation are arrested as authorities move in. Cliff arrives and learns the truth about the people he has been investigating. Fern pleads with him to spare her family. Cliff agrees and allows several people to avoid harsher consequences.
The following day, Cliff tells Fern he is leaving town. Faced with the possibility of never seeing him again, Fern finally admits her feelings for him. The two share an emotional goodbye before Cliff departs.
Back in the present, Kat and Elliot examine clues left behind from the 1920s. They focus on a coded message hidden within Fern's old newspaper columns. Working together, they finally crack the code.
The decoded message reveals details about a New Year's Eve operation in 1926 that ended in disaster. As they read further, they discover that the person connected to the tragedy is Tessa.
Elliot realizes he had previously encouraged Tessa to meet him during that period, believing it would help bring them together. Now he fears he may have unknowingly played a role in events leading to her death.
The episode ends with Elliot and Kat facing this new information while several mysteries remain unanswered, including Griffin's fate, the altered footage, Sam's connection to the pond, and the significance of the clues still hidden in the past.
