With only two episodes remaining, the story appears ready to shift from careful planning to outright war. The official preview hints at major moves across Westeros, with several long-running storylines finally converging. (Winter is Coming)
The biggest focus of the next episode will likely be Alicent's dangerous agreement with Rhaenyra. After revealing that Aemond is believed to be hiding at Harrenhal, Alicent has effectively chosen to sacrifice one son in hopes of saving another child and her unborn grandchild. Episode 7 could see Rhaenyra send a small, carefully selected group rather than a full army, hoping to catch Aemond before he can reunite with Vhagar. If the plan succeeds, the balance of the war could change overnight. But Aemond has survived impossible situations before, and it would not be surprising if he sensed the trap before it closed around him.
Aemond's storyline may also take an unexpected turn because of Alys Rivers their relationship changed dramatically in Episode 6, ending with an alliance that felt both political and deeply personal. Alys has already shown that she understands forces beyond ordinary men, and she could become far more than simply Aemond's companion. Rather than allowing him to walk into danger, she may use her knowledge of Harrenhal and its secrets to help him escape, proving that she has ambitions reaching far beyond the haunted castle itself.
Rhaenyra, meanwhile, may discover that her greatest threat is no longer the Greens but the cracks forming inside her own camp. Hugh Hammer and Ulf White have grown increasingly frustrated with the restrictions placed upon them despite risking everything to claim dragons. Both men now possess incredible power but receive little trust in return. Their resentment has been building for weeks, and Episode 7 could finally push one, or both, toward open defiance. If either dragonrider decides to ignore Rhaenyra's orders, the consequences could reshape the entire war.
Daemon is also unlikely to remain patient much longer his repeated calls for decisive action have been ignored, only for Rhaenyra's cautious plans to fail time after time. After the disaster at Tumbleton and the capture of Corlys Velaryon, Daemon may decide that waiting for permission is no longer an option. Instead of sitting through another council meeting, he could launch his own operation against the Hightower forces, creating tension between husband and wife even as they continue fighting for the same crown.
The Hightower camp may face its own internal struggle. Daeron has quietly emerged as one of the season's most conflicted characters, and his conversation with Gwayne revealed that he is deeply uncomfortable with the path laid out for him. Another failed assassination attempt or another brutal battle could force him to stop following Ormund's orders blindly. Rather than becoming the fearless prince others expect, Daeron may begin making choices based on his own conscience, setting up an emotional conflict within the Green army.
The fate of Corlys Velaryon will almost certainly become one of the episode's biggest cliffhangers. His capture gives Ormund valuable leverage over Rhaenyra, and the Hightowers may attempt to use the legendary Sea Snake as a bargaining piece instead of executing him immediately that situation could force Alyn and Addam into difficult decisions as they weigh rescuing their father against protecting the larger war effort.
Inside King's Landing, the growing mystery surrounding Helaena is also expected to become more prominent. Rhaenyra has now accepted that Helaena's visions carry real meaning, making every word she speaks increasingly valuable. If Helaena experiences another prophetic vision, it could reveal the outcome of the planned mission against Aemond or even warn of a disaster that neither side sees coming. Mysaria's decision to hide what she knows also suggests she is preparing for a move of her own, and Episode 7 could finally reveal where her true loyalties lie.
The Iron Throne cutting Rhaenyra may also continue to weigh heavily on her mind. The injury arrived at a time when her authority is already being questioned, and another military defeat could push more allies toward doubting her judgment. Expect the queen to spend much of the episode trying to prove that she is still capable of leading the Blacks while the pressure from every direction continues to mount.
The next episode trailer teases armies marching, dragons taking flight, and several major characters riding toward confrontation. With Criston Cole gone, Corlys captured, and both factions running out of time, the next chapter is likely to abandon diplomacy almost entirely. By the time the credits roll, the Dance of the Dragons may have claimed another major casualty and left both the Blacks and the Greens heading into the finale with even fewer pieces left on the board.
